London is constructing 13 miles of tunnels to connect the city's east and west side rail lines. The 15 billion project (15 billion = approximately $25 billion), which will be completed in 2018, also includes 9 new underground stations and new Bombardier-built EMU trains. The underground link will allow for easier cross-town connections and will integrate the city's substantial rail network, which is spread amongst a few disconnected stations. It will also connect with the U.K.'s new high-speed line. Some of the expected benefits of CrossRail London include greater job access, higher property values, and 200 million annual passengers.
